Mrduja is a small but special island located between Split and Trogir, and between island Brač and island Šolta. Although at first glance it may look like an ordinary point on the map, its charm and tradition make it a true pearl of the Adriatic Sea. This island has a rich history and unique customs that attract the attention of visitors.

Regatta Mrduja: Sea, Wind and Togetherness
One of the most famous events on Mrduja is the regatta, which takes place every year. This cheerful manifestation gathers sailors from the entire region, and the competition is held in the beautiful surroundings of the bays of Mrduja. The regatta is not only a sporting event; it is also an opportunity for gathering friends and family, excitement and common spirit.

All competitors are fighting to win, but the real beauty lies in the togetherness and celebration that accompanies this event. Many visitors come to watch the sailing, and the islanders welcome their guests with pride.

Tug of War: A Tradition that Brings Together
Another interesting custom associated with Mrduja is tug-of-war, a traditional game held during the summer months. This game symbolizes strength, cooperation and togetherness. Teams gather and fight for victory in a friendly environment, and the atmosphere is always cheerful and competitive.

Tug of war is not only a physical challenge, but also an opportunity to create strong bonds between participants. This tradition maintains the spirit of the community, and small competitions are often organized between local teams and guests.

Mrduja: The Moving Island
One of the interesting things about Mrduja is that the island “moves” from time to time. Due to geological processes and soil movement, the island can move by several centimeters. This unusual feature fascinates scientists and visitors, and stories about it are often retold among the islanders.
Because of this, the tradition of tug-of-war has grown into a real competition between the island of Brač and the island of Šolta, whose Mrduja is this year. The team that wins the tug-of-war takes over the management and ownership of the small island for a year and makes a big party for all the participants of the competition. In this way, the small island of Mrduja moves from one island to another every year.

Visiting Mrduja means immersing yourself in the tradition, history and beauty of the Dalmatian coast. The islanders are known for their hospitality, and the island offers numerous opportunities for exploring natural beauty. Whether you participate in a regatta, tug of war or simply enjoy the peace of this small island, Mrduja is a place that leaves a deep mark in the heart of every visitor. Due to its unique combination of sports, tradition and natural beauty, Mrduja certainly stands out as the jewel of the Adriatic Sea.

In almost all of its tours, Sea Runner takes you to the small island of Mrduja and tells unforgettable stories about how someone small can be so important.

In Kastela the summer was dry and warm. Many tourists sailed on our Adriatic sea, sunbathing on our beaches, toasting in our restaurants… Maestral wind brings the scent of salt and much- desired refreshment to the beaches, across the stone streets all the way to our fertile, green Kastela fields.
Summer is the time when everything around us grows and ripens under the warm Mediterranean sun.

Autumn is coming… most tourists are slowly going home… here are only a few tourists who know the hidden beauties of autumn and we locals. The people of Kastela have been cultivating their fertile land for centuries.
We save the rays of the sun and the warmth of summer through the fruits of the earth for the winter…
Everything is painted in some other colors… purple ripe grapes in the vineyards, red peppers, pome and balanca in the gardens, orange tangerines and green-blue olives…
Everything smells like some other scent. These are the smells of must, squeezed grapes, the smells of cooked vegetables for winter – ajvars, jams and similar delicacies…
The olive is the queen… The olive is a sacred tree. Olive is like a mother – she doesn’t ask for much, but she gives a lot. Always and forever.

The people of Kastela have been praying to God all summer so that the olive trees are not attacked by parasites during the dry and hot summer, also that fires do not harm them…
In early autumn, the people of Kastela visit their fields expect an ideal ratio of colors on the canopy of their olive trees. There must be one third green, one third purple and one third black olives.
This is the right time to start picking.

Again the people of Kastela pray to God, this time that there will be no rain when it is time to pick. The rain will fill the olives with water, there will be no good oil. Oblica is a favorite sort in Dalmatia. It is a beautiful sort – round, beautiful and large fruit, but like any beautiful girl – it is capricious. Sometimes she brings the fruits and sometines not. It is better for eat than for the oil.
Other sorts are less reputable. Levantine, leccino, swallow… small, but give plenty of oil. Every year.
They are only good for oil.

In the morning we go to the field. All of us from Kastela. Whole families. With tractors, jeeps, trailers.
We wear combs for branches and rugs on which we comb fruits. We carry cassettes in which we will place the olives until processing. At 25 kg, they must no longer be damaged. We also carry wine and fish or meat fror grill. Dalmatian cheerful nature in the world is a favorite precisely because it knows how to combine work, a good bite and the drop of wine. Most often it is a Kastelas wine – world famous Zinfandel or what would we call it here – Kastelas crljenak or Opol.
We pick and talk all day. There are also a lot of jokes. Family & friends reunion. Behind that is always time for socializing and singing. You definitely don’t need to do the whole job on the same day 😉
As the evening falls we go home, to the taverns. There we separate the olives from the twigs and leaves. Some put the fruit in the sea to make it less bitter, and some do not. They say the taste of the oil is milder when olives are from the sea.
And so for a few days we live in our fields that bind us to our ancestors and connect us in love for the Croatia country in which we live and with each other.
When all the olives are harvested, we transport them in boxes to the oil mills. Cold press in the traditional way.
Then the people of Kaštela pray to God to give them as much oil as possible. The so-called randman – from how many kilograms to how many liters of oil we got. You can be proudly boast when random is at least 15%.
And then we take that oil home. We taste the oil with some salted sardines and a piece of bread. And of course, with a glass of Kastelas wine.
People from Kastela thank God for the fruits of the soil. Cheers to your health! Until next year!

Our beautiful Dalmatian bora…
For all those who do not know – it’s the wind blowing north-east. The Kastela Gulf passes through Klis hill doors.

In Split, Kastela and Trogir she comes from Kozjak and Mosor hills. Bora cleans everything in front of her. Both sky and sea. Sky <g class="gr_ gr_19 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" id="19" data-gr-id="19">gets a</g> turquoise blue color, with <g class="gr_ gr_17 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="17" data-gr-id="17">a little</g> white clouds. The sea <g class="gr_ gr_20 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" id="20" data-gr-id="20">is tight</g> and foamy. Visibility improves. From the Kozjak <g class="gr_ gr_18 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="18" data-gr-id="18">peaks</g> you can see the islands of Šolta, Brac, Hvar, Vis and even the coast of Italy.

Bora is strong girl. She <g class="gr_ gr_19 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="19" data-gr-id="19">blowes</g> on the intervals. The story says that bora around noon has to go to lunch. Then her strength decreases. At night she comes back and strengthens again. Fishermen and sailors find safety in front of her in harbor and ports. Nobody wants to find her on the road. If she reaches the hurricane power she <g class="gr_ gr_22 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" id="22" data-gr-id="22">rubs the</g> olive trees, <g class="gr_ gr_23 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" id="23" data-gr-id="23">breaks old</g> pines, throwing roofing tiles from the houses.

Still, everyone loves bora because she is pure and gives everyone a portion of their energy.

Without bora, Dalmatian prosciutto would not have the strong and tasty flavor they are widely known for.

Women want to wash the laundry on bora, because it is fastest and best way to dry it.

Men are waiting for a bora to overtake wine. Namely, its purity and coldness protect wine from damage due to air congestion.

With the smell of freshness from Kozjak and the warmth of the sun by the coast of Dalmatia – bora is the Queen of the roses of winds of the Adriatic.

Croatia has more than 1000 islands… discover the jewels of central Dalmatian archipelago with us… For this excursion You can choose departure from 1700 years old UNESCO’s city Split, Trogir or Kaštela.

Search the nature of Vis island… Blue grotto or Blue cave is one of many Croatian wonders of nature, because of the glowing blue light that appears at certain times of day. It is a water – logged sea cave in a small bay called Balun, on the east side of the island of Biševo. Green cave.

After that we go to the one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic – Stiniva, hidden behind large stone walls. This beautiful pebble beach is visible only when you sail in between two cliffs, and those are just 4 meters apart.

Next destination is Green Grotto or Green Cave. This is a cave on the island of Ravnik with two entrances and an opening at the top through which the light enters, bounces off the seabed and colors the walls in green. Near the Green Cave there is a small uninhabited island called Budikovac. The island has a beautiful pebble beach, and a small bay sheltered from the open sea which has become an attractive refuge for many yachters who love to spend their holidays here. Hvar is over 2000 years old ancient town, with rich cultural and historical heritage, one of the oldest theaters in Europe, conquer the fortress “Fortica” from 13. <g class="gr_ gr_8 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="8" data-gr-id="8">ct</g>. Enjoy scents of lavender Island and local gastronomy.

Paklinski islands or Pakleni Islands is a group of islands south of Hvar town, very popular among tourists and yachtsmen. There are plenty of coves and bays and among them most popular is definitely South Palmižana bay. Palmižana is true piece of heaven on Earth, with its rich vegetation, crystal clear sea and amazing restaurants.

Discover beauty of island Brač… Milna is one of the most beautiful ‘little towns” on the Dalmatian coast and it is the best natural harbor on the island of Brac. History trivia: During the construction of Diocletian’s palace in Split, the Emperor’s fleet was safely harbored right here.

Bol will fascinate You with their history inscribed in each stone… it is best known for its beach Golden Horn (Zlatni rât) which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic and in the world. The picture of this beach covered front pages of some of the world’s most famous magazines. This phenomenon is a pebble cape (rât) about a thousand meters long, surrounded by crystal clear sea. The beach is special in that it changes shape and position, depending on the wind. Bol is not only known for its beach, but also as a high-end tourist destination with lots of entertainment opportunities. You will hear stories about Bol’s attraction „House in house“ and moving island Mrduja which surpasses all your imagination…

Beautiful bay Bobovisca is a quiet oasis for boaters with beautiful clear sea.
